LIGA HOKI SELANGOR 2009 - Week 5
A total of 11 matches was played over Week-5 of the Selangor Hockey League 2009. JLJ having won over the weekend, on Sunday faced OLAK in a top of the table clash. JLJ found it hard to penetrate the OLAK defence lead by former National player S.Sivabalan and Mohd Noor Khairul Azzuan.
The deadlock was finally broken on then 45th minute as JLJ’s Razali bin Mohamed Hazemi slammed in a field goal. OLAK came back fighting but missed a few good chances to equalise. JLJ in a counter attack found the net on the 60th minute through Mohd Hanip bin Che Halim and Mohd Syafiq bin Yaacob on the 63rd minute to give JLJ a 3-0 victory.
JLJ already completed their league matches will not have to wait for the results of RAMD & OLAK. JLJ can take the Division 1 title if RAMD drop points in their two remaining fixtures against Projek 11-A and OLAK.
OLAK is still in the running but must win all their remaining matches to take the title.
In Division 2, RAMD Juniors and SIA continues their unbeaten streak. RAMD Juniors found Synergy Hockey Club a tough nut to crack as Synergy defended well. RAMD Juniors eventually praised the stubborn defence of Synergy open with 3 quick goals late in the second half to take all 3 points.
SIA also found it hard against SMKDJ but had the experiences of Sri Satkurunathan to guide them to a 2-0 victory.
