The Malaysia senior football team played their second friendly match against Zimbabwe today at Stadium Shah Alam.
Two friendly matches will be held against the Warriors in preparation of their highly anticipated match against Manchester United on Saturday, 18 July 2009 at Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil.
Using 4-2-3-1 formation, coach K. Rajagobal proved that players from the U-23 squad can play with senior players such as Amri Yahyah, Indraputra and Norhafiz Zamani. Malaysia’s line-up were:
Norshahrul Idlan Talaha
Indraputra Mahayuddin - Md Amri Yahyah - Khyril Muhymeen
Amar Rohidan - Shafiq Rahim
Asrarudin Putra - Aidil Zafuan - Norhafiz Zamani (C) -V. Thirumurugan
Farizal Marlias (GK)
Malaysia played a slower game compared to their first match against Zimbabwe last Sunday. This could be due to fatigue and tiredness after playing a fast game in their first encounter against the Warriors less then 48 hours ago.
Coach Rajagobal used Norshahrul Idlan as the lone striker upfront since Zakuan Adha injured his knee. Khyril Muhymeen and V. Thirumurugan, both from Kedah, were given the chance in the starting eleven while the rest were the same players from the Sunday match.
It was Thiru who provided the solitary goal in the 40 minutes from a solo run from the middle of the field.
In the second half, all players in the squad were given the chance to play in the hope that they can inject some new energy to the team but chances were not converted into goals. At the end of the 90 minutes, the score settled at 1-0 to the Malaysian squad.
Among Malaysia’s substitution:
1) Stanley Bernard
2) Azmi Muslim
3) Shakir Ali
4) Sabree Mat Abu
5) Bunyamin Omar
6) Farderin Kadir
7) Stanley Bernard
8) Sharbenee Allawee (GK)
