Twenty one cars came for the session including a few Porsches and Honda Integras. Among the drivers spotted testing was 2007 MME overall champion SIC Chairman Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir with his race car.
APD the latest tuning house in Malaysia was also present blazing around the track with their Subaru Impreza.
Also spotted at the pit was Kenny Lee who also entered the Sepang 1000KM (S1K) race last month.
Kenny and two other team mates entered the S1K race in a Class C Toyota Levin, he and his team were leading the race for the overall title most of the time up until the last hour when the car’s belt pulley gave way resulting in him having to quit from the race.
“It was quite disappointing but thats racing,” exclaimed Kenny who have been entering the MME race since 2002 without any success including a disqualification from first in class C in 2007 due to some technical reasons.
“Every year it’s a different type of challenge we had to endure but the spirit in competing is still strong and I know I’ll reach that podium one day.”
According to Kenny he will be entering the MME in a Toyota Altezza which puts him in Class A2 competing head to head with cars such as Honda Civic Type-R.
“The car is being prepared by Wing Hin, one of the Toyota dealers and importer of TRD parts in Malaysia. We are estimating the car able to do 2 minutes and 38 seconds a lap easily.”
The 12-hour MME race is going to be flagged off on Saturday 8 of August; entrance is free with parking charges as low as RM5 for cars and RM2 for motorcycles.
